Résumé
Given that sea level rise into the future is a fact, it is important to understand how coastal dunes, and, in particular, foredunes will respond to sea level rise. This talk will examine the various ways that coastal dunes respond and/or translate following coastal erosion events and sea level rise. Foredune translation occurs by blowout formation, by the formation of jets and marked suspended sediment transport during high velocity events, and principally by post-scarping processes. Parabolic dunes and transgressive dunefields relatively easily migrate downwind if space is available.
The geomorphology, aerodynamic processes over foredunes and within blowouts including new CFD modelling and field research, and the evolution of foredunes and their translation dynamics will be discussed.
